July 18, 2010 - At Sea / Inside Passage

The Zuiderdam cruised through a section of Alaska's inside passage this afternoon. Most of our time was spent relaxing on our corner aft balcony, enjoying the serenity and beauty of this unspoiled landscape. We had our first bald eagle sighting, and a solitary humpback quite a bit off in the distance.

Tonight was formal dinner, and we all cleaned up quite purdy if I do say so myself! On the way down to the dining room, Alex blurted out that he'd been trying to hide that he'd been fighting off a head cold for several days, much to everyone's surprise (how he managed to hide that tidbit for so long, I'll never know). Worried that he'd either end up with something more sinister, or pass it around to the rest of the group, I lost my temper and banished him off to the infirmary. $104 & a bottle of throat spray later, he rejoined us in time for the main course.

We waffled a bit, but finally decided to cancel our catamaran tour of Tracy Arm Fjord scheduled for tomorrow morning, so he could rest a bit in hopes that he'd stay healthy enough to enjoy the remainder of the trip. Fingers crossed!

Tomorrow morning we cruise Tracy Arm Fjord and dock in Juneau mid-afternoon.
